Western Edge Theatre Society is seeking a part-time Administrator from the Nanaimo area to assist with the smooth, year-round running of this long-established theatre company.
This position includes a stipend of $500/month, calculated on a basis of $25/hr., at an average 20 hours per month, beginning mid-July.
Working closely with the co-artistic directors, and in cooperation with the Society Board, the Administrator will conduct the business of the company, including:
· Grant writing, submission, and follow-up reporting (City of Nanaimo, BC Arts Council, BC Gaming Commission, etc.)
· Finances (banking, tax receipts; payment of invoices, royalties, reimbursement of expenses; regular bills; year-end reporting (Registered Charities Information Return, WorkSafe BC)
· Contracts (artists, technicians and support personnel; rentals, royalties, ticketing, media)
In each of these areas, the Administrator will initially work alongside the current Executive Director, to ensure a smooth transition.
Ability to work collaboratively is essential. A background in theatre administration is helpful but not required. The successful candidate will have clear communication skills, both verbal and written.
They will demonstrate good organization and attention to detail, ability to work to deadlines, to work in a close team, and to anticipate the needs of the company. Once established, the
Administrator role may evolve into the Executive Producer role, at an increased rate of pay.
