Pints & Playwrights

Pints & Playwrights

Pints and playwrights will both be on tap at an upcoming event to celebrate the work of professional playwrights based in the Nanaimo area.

On Tuesday, June 21st at 7 pm, local playwrights Michael Armstrong, Frank Moher, Nicolle Nattrass, and Jennifer Wynne Webber will each read from their most recent work at White Sails Brewing, 125 Comox Street, across from Maffeo Sutton Park.

The event is called “Pints and Playwrights” and is open to the public (19 years and older.) Admission is free.

Each playwright will read selections from their original stage plays. Some of these have been produced nationally and internationally, while others are new works-in-progress.

The plays run a wide variety of styles and topics, promising something for every theatrical taste.

The taproom at White Sails Brewing will provide a relaxed ambience for the reading, as well as the opportunity to order craft beers that come in as many flavours as the plays to be presented.

The event aims to connect writers with their community, offering playwrights the opportunity to meet and greet local theatre supporters and anyone interested in writing and theatre.

Participating playwrights are all members of the Playwrights Guild of Canada, an organization that advances the rights and interests of professional Canadian playwrights, promotes Canadian plays, and fosters an active community of writers for the stage.

This event is generously sponsored by: TheatreOne, Western Edge Theatre, White Sails Brewing, the Playwrights Guild of Canada, and the Canada Council for the Arts Playwrights’ Readings Program.
