In response to public health concerns regarding the Coronavirus, Nanaimo’s Western Edge Theatre has cancelled performances of the play 4000 Miles, which was scheduled to open March 20th.
“Like many theatres around the world, we have made the decision not to perform at this time,” says Executive Director Frank Moher. “It’s a big disappointment to us, and especially the artists and technicians involved. But, of course, we must prioritize the health of our company members, our audience, and our community.
“We hope this is just a postponement, and that we’ll be able to return to producing the play once circumstances permit.”
Ticket-holders will be contacted with options to receive credit for a future production, donate their ticket in return for a tax receipt, or receive a refund. Questions may be directed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
“We thank our audiences for their patience and loyalty,” says Moher, “and look forward to returning to a much happier role: Entertaining and inspiring you.”
Your support of non-profit arts organizations, and the artists they engage, is always much appreciated, but never more so than during this difficult time. If you would like to make a donation to Western Edge Theatre, you can do so, and immediately receive a tax receipt, via our Canada Helps page at https://westernedge.org/donate. Your gift will help ensure that we are able to continue engaging theatre artists and technicians from our own community, and provide you with opportunities to enjoy their work. Thank you!
